Stash and Dash

We'll strap you into a junky old harness and start the clock during a timed contest that simulates what you'd expect after landing in El Cap meadow with rangers hot on your tail. You'll be required to remove the harness, tuck the parachute and harness/container into a stash bag, then dash across the finish line. The best times will win some amazing prizes donated from numerous BASE gear manufacturers. Look for this contest to take place at River Expeditions' Fire Creek Lodge during onsite registration. You must be present at the Saturday night jumper meeting to win as the last thing we want to do after Bridge Day is drag ourselves to the post office to ship your prizes.

Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $100 + parachuting industry donations
  • 2nd Place: $50 + parachuting industry donations
  • 3rd Place: $25 + parachuting industry donations

Congratulations to the 2009 "Stash and Dash" winners:

This contest separates the hardcore, urban BASE jumpers from the weekend warriors. Some astonishing (record) times were recorded this year by the 57 contestants. Remember, these guys had to remove a fully tightened harness, stuff it into a closed stash bag, then put it over their shoulders. Thanks to Steve "Sparky" Baich for running this contest.

Stash and Dash prizes were provided by:

1st Place - Sam Gouws, 17.50 seconds
2nd Place - Chase Volz, 25.28 seconds
3rd Place - Smiley, 26.00 seconds

Craziest ID Badge

We see some insane 2"x2" ID badge photos every year at Bridge Day. Now, you can win some cool prizes by having the craziest 2x2 photo. You'll still need to have an identifiable picture of yourself to comply with Bridge Day Commission rules, but feel free to wear a pink wig or shove a pilot chute in your mouth during the photo. You'll automatically be entered into this contest when you check-in onsite at River Expeditions' Fire Creek Lodge (unless you prefer to opt-out). If your photo is a candidate, we'll make a copy of it and hand out prizes at the Saturday night jumper meeting. You must be present at the Saturday night jumper meeting to win as the last thing we want to do after Bridge Day is drag ourselves to the post office to ship your prizes.

2nd Place - Marcus Ellison (in full NPS uniform with gun in front of the bridge)
