Lodging
Vertical Visions has contracts in place with the following locations at Bridge Day 2009 (any registered jumper can call on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 2pm EDT on August 1, 2009):

  • River Expeditions: 15-25 cabins, 3-6 RV sites, 15-20 tents on platforms, and unlimited camping at jumper headquarters in Oak Hill, WV. The BASE videofest, jumper registration, BASE gear trade show, BASE first jump courses, jumper meetings, and the Saturday night party will occur here. Cabins are $65-75, RV sites are $35-40, tents on platforms are $40-45, and tent camping is $10-15 per person each night. Vertical Visions highly recommends staying here (beautiful campground, plenty of room for everyone, campfires, etc.) Further details are located below.

  • Comfort Inn New River Gorge: 50 hotel rooms located in Oak Hill, WV. This hotel is located approximately 1000' from jumper headquarters (River Expeditions). Price is $90-120 weekdays and $190-220 on Bridge Day weekend (2 night minimum). Further details are located below.

  • Quality Inn New River Gorge: 50 motel rooms located in Fayetteville, WV (the closest motel to the bridge). Further details are located below.

Starting August 1, 2009 (2pm EDT), any jumper can reserve one of the above lodging options by calling the respective hotel, motel, or campground. The jumper's last name and order number must be provided when making reservations via credit card. Due to the high percentage of unclaimed hotel rooms last year, Vertical Visions has switched back to a first-come, first-served system for handing out contracted lodging. Additional Bridge Day lodging options are shown below and jumpers are free to stay anywhere they choose.

Jumpers are no longer based at the Holiday Inn Oak Hill due to a $1500+ conference room rental increase, Holiday Inn/police collaboration for "open container" citations under the Holiday Inn carport, Holiday Inn management's general lack of respect for paying customers, and the Holiday Inn's new requirement that Vertical Visions pay for any fines incurred by the hotel. We recommend that jumpers do not stay at the Holiday Inn Oak Hill until the above issues are resolved. In addition, rooms start at $247.50 per night this year!

Cabins - Cabins (25 total) feature six bunks with double-size foam mattresses, electricity, lights, and porch. You supply pillows, sleeping bags or bedding and blankets. These cabins are located near the showerhouse and restrooms. An electric space heater is recommended during cold weather. 15 of their 25 cabins are available for jumpers on October 16-17, 2009.
Tents on Platforms - A convenient way for you to enjoy all the fun of camping, without all the hassle of packing a tent, setting it up and tearing it down. Large, four-person tents are set up on wooden platforms and covered by a tin roof to protect you from the elements. They come equipped with four foam mattresses - the only gear you will need to bring is your sleeping bag or bedding, and pillow. 15 of their 20 tents on platforms are available for jumpers on October 16-17, 2009.
Tent Camping - Features spacious wooded, festive and quiet camping areas complete with picnic tables and fire rings. Within the campground, you are within easy walking distance to our new showerhouse and restrooms, dining area, pool and hot tub, Fire Creek Lodge and Conference Center, Outfitters Store, Red Dog River Saloon, and Welcome Center. Feel free to scope out the entire campground before making your camping selection. And please always be mindful of other guests around you. Tent camping is available for 500+ jumpers during Bridge Day. Vertical Visions highly recommends River Expeditions for anyone wanting to tent camp this year.
RV Sites - New and improved this year, complete with water and electric hook ups and even a dump station on-site. Six sites are centrally located near the showerhouse/restrooms and feature a fire ring and picnic table so you can still enjoy the best part of camping, even if you're only semi-roughing it.
