Lodging - Bridge Day 2010
Vertical Visions has BASE jumper lodging contracts in place with River Expeditions (where all BASE jumper activities and registration takes place) and the Comfort Inn New River Gorge. These two locations are highly recommended, although jumpers can stay anywhere they please and make lodging reservations at other locations anytime (see additional options below).
It's a new year, which means we're trying to make things simpler once again (for better or worse). Immediately after you reserve a jump pass starting on July 1, 2010, we'll email you a special code that you can use to reserve hotel rooms, cabins, tents on platforms, and RV sites first-come first-served at River Expeditions and the Comfort Inn New River Gorge. For those on a budget, camping at River Expeditions can be reserved anytime without a code. In other words, you'll be able to purchase a jump pass and a few minutes later reserve lodging (no more waiting until August 1st). Hopefully, this will make your life easier.
Jumpers are no longer based at the Holiday Inn Oak Hill due to a $1500+ conference room rental increase, Holiday Inn/police collaboration for "open container" citations under the Holiday Inn carport, Holiday Inn management's general lack of respect for paying customers, and the Holiday Inn's new requirement that Vertical Visions pay for any fines incurred by the hotel. We recommend that jumpers do not stay at the Holiday Inn Oak Hill until the above issues are resolved. In addition, room rates skyrocketed to $247.50 last year.
Here's a summary of the lodging held for jumpers:
River Expeditions - 18 cabins, 18 tents on platforms, 3 RV sites, and unlimited camping at jumper headquarters in Oak Hill, WV. The BASE videofest, jumper registration, BASE gear trade show, BASE first jump courses, jumper meetings, and the Saturday night party will occur here. Cabins are $65-75, RV sites are $35-40, tents on platforms are $40-45, and tent camping is $10-15 per person each night. Vertical Visions highly recommends staying here (beautiful campground, plenty of room for everyone, campfires, showers, etc.) Further details are located below.
Comfort Inn New River Gorge - 30 hotel rooms located in Oak Hill, WV. This hotel is located approximately 1000' from jumper headquarters (River Expeditions). Price is $90-120 weekdays and $190-220 on Bridge Day weekend (2 night minimum). Further details are located below.
