Bridge Day is a videographer and photographer's dream with six hours of continuous action as BASE jumpers hurl themselves off the 876' New River Gorge Bridge and rappellers descend down fixed ropes from the catwalk below. We won't even mention the possibility of 250,000 spectators showing up to watch. If you're a videographer, photographer, production company, newspaper, or television station, you can't afford to miss Bridge Day.
- Media passes can only be obtained from the Chamber of Commerce. Read the bottom of their webpage under "Media Requirements". Contact the Chamber of Commerce for further details and costs. They can issue you a Media Pass if you meet their qualifications.
- If you want to bring a small video or still camera onto the bridge, then a media pass is not required.
- Chamber of Commerce media passes will permit you onto the bridge with your camera equipment, in addition to allowing you to access certain media areas and ride the shuttles. Once on top of the bridge, you can film from outside the jumper exit area. Due to safety concerns, insurance, and past abuse, media will not be permitted inside the jumper exit area. In the landing zone, a media area is available.
- Media are required to attend a pre-Bridge Day Media briefing at Smokey's on the Gorge (Class VI River Runners) in Lansing, WV. In addition to the media, the meeting will include representatives from the Bridge Day Commission, Law Enforcement, B.A.S.E. jumpers, Rappellers, National Park Service, and other agencies that are crucial to the safe and efficient operation of Bridge Day.
- Any media working directly with Vertical Visions will be issued a staff pass and will be permitted inside the roped-off jumper exit area on top of the bridge. .
