Schedule of Events - Bridge Day 2014
2:00pm (EDT) - Jumper registration and trade show booth registration begins. Immediately after registration, jumpers will be sent lodging codes via email allowing them to reserve hotel rooms at the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill. Jumpers can also reserve their own lodging anytime at any location.
Background Checks: Jumpers who have not previously registered for Bridge Day since 2002 will undergo a background check by the Fayetteville Sheriff.
October 14 (Tuesday)
Jumpers begin to arrive in Fayetteville.
October 15 (Wednesday)
1:30pm: Final public meeting of the Bridge Day Commission (BDC) at the Fayette County Courthouse. Jumpers are highly encouraged to attend.
October 16 (Thursday)
5:00pm-8:00pm: Early check-in, gear inspection, waiver, ID badges, etc. in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill banquet room. Remember, jumpers must register onsite with us in order to jump at Bridge Day (gear checks, waiver, goodie bag, etc.).
October 17 (Friday)
8:00am-5:00pm: The Bridge Day Introductory Course taught by Apex BASE will meet in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill lobby at 8:00am sharp. Classroom training will take place next door at the nearby Fayette Institute of Technology (Vo-tech) in room #4. A landing zone tour and exit trainer jump will take place at other locations. Here's a map to the Vo-tech if needed. Vertical Visions has two 15-passenger vans that can transport most of the group to the LZ for free.
9:00am-4:00pm: Check-in, gear inspection, waiver, ID badges, etc. in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill banquet room. Jumpers must check in and register by 4pm, otherwise your slot may be lost or late fees will be applied. If you think you might arrive late, please take advantage of our late arrival option to avoid the late fee.
10:00am: Packing seminar held in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill lobby. Free admission.

2:00pm: Catapult meeting in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill rear parking lot. All jumpers using the human catapult must attend (unless you've been launched in the past).
3:00pm: Exit point staff briefing held in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill, Room #209. All exit point staff must attend.
3:00pm: Packing seminar held in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill lobby. Free admission.
4:45pm: Group panoramic photo to be taken of all 450+ jumpers and staff in front of the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill. Free digital copies for all jumpers. Please be there!
5:00pm: Tandem BASE jumper meeting in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill, Room #209.
6:00pm: LZ and van driver staff meeting in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill, Room #209.
6:30pm: Drs Erik Monasterio and Omer Mei-Dan are two extreme athletes and medical researchers who are involved in ongoing research on populations of extreme athletes (elite mountaineers and BASE Jumpers). They'll be discussing their Bridge Day 2014 medical study in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill banquet room.
7:00pm-8:30pm: Jumper briefing at the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill banquet room to include: Weather briefings, river conditions, landing area details, safety video and briefings, rappeller briefing, NPS Ranger briefing, water rescue briefing, LZ coordinator briefing, jumping schedule, etc.ALL NEW BRIDGE DAY JUMPERS MUST ATTEND THIS MEETING! WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO GROUND NEW JUMPERS IF THEY FAIL TO ATTEND. If you fail to learn about potentially deadly river conditions, water rescue techniques that may save your life, rappelling lines behind you on deployment, appropriate landing areas, and other important procedures and information, you could place spectators and rescue personnel at risk.
October 18 (Bridge Day)
Enlarge picture 6:30am: Vertical Visions boom crane and rental truck leave the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill and arrives at Rt.19/Fayette Station Road intersection around 6:50am. Slowly moves toward exit point at 7:00am.
8:00am: Two 40-passenger buses leave the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill for exit point (jumpers only).
8:30am to 3:15pm - Vertical Visions vans #1-2 begin hauling jumpers, staff, and people with van passes to the exit point and then back down to the LZ (continuous loops all day). At least five stopping points are identified on the Van Map.
9:00am-3:00pm: BASE jumping for six hours from the New River Gorge Bridge. Catapult launches start around 9:30am and should occur every 15-20 minutes throughout the day. The schedule is subject to change depending on weather and jumper participation.
3:15pm - One bus leaves top of Fayette Station Road (Rt. 19 intersection) for the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill (free for anyone to ride)
3:15pm-3:45pm: Vertical Visions vans #1-3 leave LZ for the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill, stopping by Rt.19/Fayette Station Road intersection, Quality Inn New River, and Comfort Inn New River (if needed).
4:00pm - Vertical Visions' boom crane and rental truck leave exit point for the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill (anyone can ride).
5:00pm: Party begins at the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill with free pizza, beer, soda, etc. (photo ID and Bridge Day jump badge required). Photographers may have jump photos available for viewing and possibly some videos being shown in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill banquet room.
7:00pm: Jumper meeting and awards ceremony in the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill banquet room to announce BASE Videofest winners, overall statistics, thanks to staff and volunteers, video of jumps, etc. BASE Videofest winners will have their videos shown on two big screen TV's. Party continues through the night at the Holiday Lodge Oak Hill.
October 19 (Sunday)
